The strong swimmer, equipped for both speed and endurance, is the bluefin tuna. Their bodies are very streamlined to reduce drag around their fins and to conserve energy on lengthy travels. Additionally, tuna have the ability to fold or retract those fins to let water flow easily over them. Warm-blooded fish like tuna may raise their body temperatures by up to six degrees Celsius above the surrounding water. Their muscles are able to work more effectively because of this warmth. Since bluefin tuna is overfished globally, environmentalists warn against eating it.
